Snakes await revamped grand final program

THE STAGING of junior rugby league grand final day is yet to be decided due to the lockdown in south-east Queensland, after the Snake Pit venue in Caboolture was scheduled to host the occasion on Saturday, August 7.

Five Snakes teams from U13s to U17s have secured a grand final berth so far, with the U15 and U17 Black Girls booking their spot as they won their fixtures last Friday after the U16 Black Boys, U15 Yellow Girls and U13 Yellow Boys booked their spot with victories the previous week.

Caboolture’s U13 and U15 Black Boys teams fell short of a grand final berth after losing their matches in week two of finals, while the fortunes of the U13 Yellow Girls and U14 Black Boys teams remains up in the air.

The U13 Yellow Girls were scheduled to contest Caloundra Gold while the U14 Black Boys were scheduled to contest Maroochydore last Saturday, but these games could not proceed due to the imminent lockdown in south-east Queensland.

Caboolture’s U17 Black Girls scored five tries to three as they downed Nambour/Noosa/Palm 22-14 at the Woodford Showgrounds.

Taya Chippendale bagged a double while Grace Giampino and Lenniece Wright were also among the scorers for the victors.

Shae Holliday, Caitlyn Smith and Trinity-Maree Jackson scored a try each for the vanquished.

Letia Alefaio and Eva Steers scored for the U15 Black Girls in their 28-16 win against Maroochydore at the Woodford Showgrounds.

Keeley Davies shone in a losing cause as she scored two tries and kicked two goals, while Emily Maher scored Maroochydore’s other try.

On the same day, Caboolture’s U15 Black Boys scored three unconverted tries while Caloundra prevailed 22-12 after accumulating four tries and three goals.

The following day, Caboolture’s U13 Black Boys scored four tries but it wasn’t enough as Kawana scored six tries in its 28-20 triumph.

Updates on the remainder of the finals series will be posted on the Caboolture Snakes Junior Rugby League Club facebook page.
