The women’s team triumphed as they played on Sunday.

Division 4 wins at Caloundra

An innings of 63 from Lachlan Wright provided the backbone of Wamuran-Stanley River’s total of 7/164 in 40 overs.

After stumbling to 3/34, Caloundra reached 3/80 before crumbling to 133 all out in the 30th over as five bowlers shared the wickets.

USC too strong in Division 6

USC lost both openers without scoring before an unbeaten 104 from Renato Marchetti set up a strong total of 5/219 in 40 overs at Wamuran Sports Reserve.

Saroj Khatiwoda claimed 4/17 for USC as the hosts could muster only 111 in 26 overs.

Thriller in Division 7

Wamuran-Stanley River had a tense five-run win after setting USC a target of 178 at Nirimba Sports Complex.

Michael Harvey’s attacking innings of 67 was the standout for Wamuran-Stanley River, while six of Harvey’s teammates made scores between 11 and 16.

USC looked gone at 7/101 before a 54-run partnership unfolded, and a last wicket stand of 15 narrowly failed to steal victory as the match finished with a run-out.

Rory Shipp took three wickets for the winners.

Mawer magic inspires women’s team

Wamuran-Stanley River restricted Landsborough to 5/101 in 20 overs, before reaching the target in the 15th over for the loss of three wickets in the Sunday women’s match at Landsborough Sports Club.

Gayle Mawer was an all-round star as she claimed 3/13 and then scored 30 not out, while Tyleisha Dunn also shone in the run chase with 32 not out.
