Venue change for start of netball season

ROUND one of the Caboolture Netball Association (CNA) season will take place at Pine Rivers Netball Association on Sunday (March 13), after flooding delayed the start of the competition.

The season was scheduled to begin last Saturday (March 5) at the regular Caboolture netball venue, but this was never going to materialise due to the Caboolture courts being flooded.

It remains unknown as to when the Caboolture courts will be ready for use, following clean-ups and the assessment of any damage.

Woodford Warriors secretary Hayley Larkin said the standard of competition looked strong with 15 CNA divisional teams, two Go divisions, three Set divisions, and two Net divisions.

The Warriors have 90 players returning while having seven divisional teams, one Go team, one Set team and one Net team.

The Woodford Showgrounds also suffered damage in the floods, forcing the Warriors to miss one week of training, before returning to training yesterday.

Hayley said the courts had been cleaned and that the clubhouse had been cleaned out.

“We have had a huge cleaning bee and the courts are looking great, there was some long days cleaning everything and (we) have had to dispose of a lot of our gear,” she said.

“We have two courts being rebuilt shortly and in hopes of the other two being redone at some stage down the track.”
