Alyssa’s enthusiasm is bound to be infectious as she emphasised that having fun was her number one priority.

“I want students to love coming to gymnastics and think of it as a fun, positive space for them to give any new skill a go,” she said.

“You can do gymnastics for fun, have it as a social gathering, or take it really seriously and compete at a high level.

“It’s a fast paced, energetic and exciting sport to not only watch but take part in.”

Originally from Mount Crosby, Alyssa (pictured) worked as a gymnastics coach at PCYC Ipswich for nearly four years, before moving location when she saw a chance to broaden her horizons.

Alyssa said she loved the atmosphere of PCYC Fernvale, and she described the facility as amazing while sensing that the space had so much to offer and a bit of something for everyone.

“It sparked a huge amount of motivation in me as I could see the great potential the gymnastics program could have, and I couldn’t wait to start coordinating and delivering the program,” she said.

Gymnastics and trampoline have been Alyssa’s main areas of teaching, and she has also choreographed and taught dance to students of all ages.

Alyssa also possesses a love for Women’s Artistic Gymnastics national levels program, and she coached a competition team for one year.

“I hope to deliver a positive and motivating space for people of all ages and abilities to come and learn the different techniques and skills to become confident gymnasts,” Alyssa said.

“I want to deliver a program where each child can progress at their own pace, set goals, and of course have fun whilst doing so.”

Alyssa has enjoyed coaching students ranging from 12 months to 18 years of age, with the youngest in kinder gym classes and the eldest in recreational gymnastics classes.

While emphasising the fun aspect of her chosen sport, Alyssa also said: “In the future I would love to have a competition team for gymnasts who want to take the sport bit more seriously.”

At the moment, Alyssa runs an under-five kinder gym program and offers beginner to advanced gymnastics classes throughout the week.
