Stonehouse open days in the planning
A RANGE of distinct features will be part of this year’s Stonehouse open days at the Moore venue on the weekend of July 22 and 23.
In its fourth year, the annual two-day open day event promotes awareness of Stonehouse buildings and allows the public to learn the historical value of them.
A working horse display is being planned for this year’s event, and there will also be a horse drawn pie cart selling pies the old school way.
Heritage displays, market stalls, folk music, oral histories, a blacksmith, bush poets, and a historic horse display will be other features.
Attendees will also have the chance to meet the heritage stonemasons and carpenter.
A painting of the Stonehouse will be a raffle prize, and there will also be a photo exhibition at the Moore Hall.
Photos will be displayed for the public to choose the winner of the $1,000 first prize. Information on entry forms can be found at the ‘Stonehouse, Moore’ social media page.
The bus fare and entry to Stonehouse will cost $10 per person, while children aged 12 and under are admitted for free.
The only access will be via the bus that leaves from the Stone Rotunda in Moore every 15 to 20 minutes, as the event runs from 8.30am to 3.30pm.
