Students fight against weeds

Harlin State School Year 5 and 6 students got hands-on experience fighting against pest weeds, with Supervising Pest Management Officer with the Somerset Regional Council, Shane Lampard, visiting the Harlin SS Year 5-6 Weed Warriors.

With several pest weeds on site, students created four test sites to collect data and investigate the best method of eradication.

Shane confirmed the data, which indicated fire was the best option with follow-up spraying.

The students are the next defence against Mother of Millions, Cats Claw, and Lantana, with their enthusiasm now becoming action.

The school was glad to see Shane and have the chance for students to share in his work for the Somerset region.
