Police were called at about 2.30pm to attend Mount Kilcoy, with several residents advising police that two suspects were seen in the area.

Shortly afterwards, police attended to a vehicle that crashed on Mount Kilcoy Road, and a female was subsequently taken into custody.

Police from the Moreton Bay Dog Squad, Landsborough Traffic Unit, Woodford and Moore Police conducted a comprehensive search throughout rural properties in the area.

At about 8.40pm, officers from Moreton Bay Dog Squad located the second suspect, a male, in possession of stolen property.

A 43-year-old Kawana man and a 35-year-old Harristown woman were charged with burglary and Weapons Act offences.

A police spokesperson said a quantity of stolen property, mostly jewellery, was yet to be located.

“It was through the quick reporting of these matters and a constant line of communication with the residents of Mount Kilcoy, that meant police were able to respond in a timely manner and allowed for the arrest of these suspects before any further offences were committed,” the spokesperson said.

“A number of residents in the area assisted us with searching large areas of farmland, in their own vehicles, which was a great help considering the scale of the area to be searched.”

Police request anyone with information to contact Crime Stoppers or Policelink.

Residents are asked to remain vigilant by securing dwellings and vehicles, and reporting suspicious behaviour to police.
