Assistant Minister for Regional Roads Bruce Saunders said the investment would see five roads resealed next month to improve safety, skid resistance and provide a waterproofing layer.

In total, close to 30km of roads will be resealed along:

· Two sections of the D’Aguilar Highway between Woolmar and Taromea (18km)

· Two sections of Maleny-Stanley River Road (1.5km)

· Almost one kilometre of Maleny-Montville Road

· Around four kilometres of Montville-Mapleton Road

· More than five kilometres of Yandina-Coolum Road.

“The Palaszczuk Government locked in $19 million for the D’Aguilar Highway as part of $5 billion in stimulus funding with the Australian Government.”

“Upgrades like these play an important role alongside our major investments like the $3 billion going into the Bruce Highway in the region.

It follows the announcement last week of another $6 million to seal the D’Aguilar Highway between Caboolture and Bracalba.

“This investment right across both the Sunshine Coast and Somerset regions will not only improve safety along key stretches, but also provide a spark for local economies with crews spending money at local shops while they carry out the works.

“Queenslanders backed the Palaszczuk Government and its plan for economic recovery and better roads, and we’re backing them with an ongoing investment that’ll create jobs at a time we need them most.

Works will be completed throughout the month of April, weather permitting, and generally take place Mondays to Saturdays, 7am to 6pm.

Lane closures, reduced speed limits and signs will be in place to advise of changed traffic conditions and ensure the safety of motorists and road workers.

Mr Saunders urged to drivers to drive to conditions, keep an eye out for road crews and follow all signs and directions.
