Member for Pumicestone Ali King said the upgrades would make the stretch of highway much safer for the nearly 13,000 motorists who use the road every day.

“As part of the works, we’ll be resurfacing the on and off-ramps from the Bruce Highway,

Pumicestone Road and Old Gympie Road, as well as the Bruce Highway overpass bridge,” Ms King said.

“The works are expected to take around four months to complete, weather and construction conditions permitting.

“It’s another example of our commitment to making roads safer right across the state.”

Ms King said the upgrades were a win for the community.

“We know how important upgrading this section of the D’Aguilar Highway is, so it’s great to see works are about to get underway,” she said.

“It comes as part of our $29.7 billion road and transport plan for the next four years, supporting 25,200 good, secure jobs across Queensland.

“We’re delivering better roads all across the state, helping Queenslanders spend less time

behind the wheel and more with family and friends.”

To reduce impacts to nearby businesses, residents and motorists, all works will be carried

out at night, Sunday to Thursday, typically between 6pm and 6am.

Ms King thanked motorists and the local community in advance for their patience and cooperation during works.

“Motorists can expect delays and increases in travel times when lane closures and detours are implemented during evening construction hours,” Ms King said.
