A VERY lucky Esk local has taken home a whopping first division prize of over $5 million after buying a ticket in the Saturday Gold Lotto on February 4.

The Esk Newsagency has been operational for well over 50 years, and current owner Dion Wengel was excited to have sold the shop’s first ever division one winning lotto ticket.
The Esk Newsagency has been operational for well over 50 years, and current owner Dion Wengel was excited to have sold the shop’s first ever division one winning lotto ticket.

The winner, who has asked to remain anonymous, was notified by The Lott on Saturday night that she should start to think about how she could live her life $5,291,713.30 richer.

Owner and manager of Esk Newsagency Dion Wengel said this was the first ever first division lotto win in Esk.

Dion has operated the newsagency with his team of three for the last 15 years and said they have worked hard to try and sell a first division winning ticket.

“It’s very exciting for a little town like Esk,” Dion said.

“We usually see that the larger cities pick up these prizes, but for us to be little Esk and sell and winning ticket and make someone’s life very, very different is a very nice feeling.”

Dion is using this “momentous” win to encourage people to purchase a ticket for their chance to win.

“You cannot win lotto if you do not have a ticket.

“If you want to become a potential millionaire come see us at Esk Newsagency.”
