The Wolves finished 12th out of 18 teams in the U14 division, with Anaru Ngawhare named best-and-fairest player for the club.

On day one, Stanley River’s U14s had a 12-4 loss to Toowoomba Brothers and a 16-0 win against Pittsworth.

The following day, the Wolves went down 16-0 to Dalby and 12-0 to Collegians, before finishing on a bright note with a 12-8 victory over Carnarvon Cubs.

Wolves coaches Kev Weaver and Luke Messinbird were proud of the boys, especially for their willingness to help out other clubs which were short on numbers.

Stanley River’s U14s enjoyed the rugby league and the team bonding while rope swings at the creek, barbecues and swimming were other enjoyable aspects.

The team is already looking forward to returning in two years, as U16s.

This year’s Wolves U15s meanwhile stepped up a level as they played in the U16 division, and placed 15th out of 19 teams.

On day one, Stanley River went down 8-0 to Toowoomba Brothers before beating Fassifern White with the same scoreline.

The next day, the Wolves went down 12-4 to Central West, 16-0 to Caboolture and 8-0 to Mt Isa.

Cohen Cochran was named as the Stanley River U16 best-and-fairest player of the carnival.

Having enjoyed the rugby league, team bonding and atmosphere so much as U14s at last year’s Adrian Vowles Cup, the Wolves were quick to book a spot for this year’s carnival even though it meant encountering teams a year older. Once again the Wolves enjoyed the mateship during the two days.

Coaches Deece Knight and James Cochran were proud of how the boys played and how they represented the club.

One highlight for the U15s this year was meeting Charleville product Kurt Capewell, who has played State of Origin for Queensland since 2020 and also won a premiership with Penrith in 2021 before becoming a Brisbane Bronco.

The Wolves U15s look forward to taking part in next year’s Adrian Vowles Cup.
