The Wolves fielded U10 and U12 teams at the two- day carnival, with the U10s recording two wins, four draws and four losses while the U12s had six wins, one draw and three losses.

Clubs that took part were Stanley River, Carnarvon Cubs, Wandoan Wildcats, St George Dragons, Benderoo Bulls, Nanango Stags, Emerald Brothers, Dalby Devils, Mitchell, Roma Saints and Chinchilla Bulldogs.

A panel of selectors chose a player of the match for each game, and then the player with the most points at the end of the carnival was awarded for each age group.

Opposition sides selected players to receive their player- of-the-match award at the end of every game, with players receiving a small token from the opposition club (such as a shirt, hat, jersey, shorts).

Of the Wolves U10s, Ned Michel received four player- of-the-match awards while James Potts, Luke Bennett, Jassy Ahern, Wade Hutchison, Riley Roberton, Harry Bassingthwaighte and Abel O’Sullivan received one each. Harry and Abel received the award in the same game.

Of the Wolves U12s, Callum Burns received four player- of-the-match awards while Cooper received three. Ryder Juffs, Riley Wilson and Steele Marshall received one each.

“Cooper’s selection (for player of the carnival) out of the 11 teams is an outstanding achievement, which the club is very proud of,” Wolves president Mary-Anne Hallam said.

“This is the second player from Stanley River U12s to take out a player of the carnival award, after Ryder Juffs received it at Torbanlea in March.”
