The juniors relished learning from former Brisbane Broncos and State of Origin men’s player Matt Gillett and women’s player Meg Ward, as this duo ran the clinic along with Sunshine Coast RISE coaches.

Six different drills were set up, with the juniors spending about 15 to 20 minutes at each one.

The juniors had one-on-one time with Gillett and Ward who took an interest in each of them, as they asked the youngsters about their club and rugby league experience.

The juniors also took the chance to obtain Gillett’s and Ward’s signatures, and to have a photo with them.

Each of the juniors received a hat, a little stress football, sunscreen, fake tattoos and a stretchy band. A sausage sizzle was also provided at the end of the clinic.

Stanley River Wolves president Mary-Anne Hallam said, “It was great having Meg there as you could really see the young girls look to her as inspiration.”

Mrs Hallam said the feedback from parents was that it was a great clinic which all of the youngsters thoroughly enjoyed.

The Wolves juniors who took part were Deegan (U6), Macie (U7), Lucas (U8), Quinton (U9), Jasmine (U10), Abel (U10), Flynn (U11), Brody (U11), Jordan (U13), Cruz (U13), Benjamin (U13), Mollie (U13G), Jackson (U15), and Pyper (U15G).
