Woodchoppers on fire

Under a scolding sun with temperatures reaching 37 degrees, young guns Hartley and Carlyn Geiger lapped up the heat and the pressure.

The youngsters joined dozens of competitors at the Kilcoy Exchange Hotel’s World Champion Woodchoppers festival last Saturday, with Hartley winning the Juniors event.

The packed event started earlier than planned, due to a high number of competitors, with a strong crowd pushing through the heat - with a beer in hand for many.

There were 41 competitors overall, with 23 being novices and kids, and 18 participating, in the main draw.
