After the inaugural event was held at the back of the hotel on Australia Day last year, it was decided to stage this year’s event at the front of the hotel, where a chainsaw event took place last July.

It was also decided to stage this year’s event on the Saturday night after Australia Day, after last year’s event coincided with the Australia Day Kilcoy race meet which was on a Wednesday.

Kilcoy woodchopping identity Gerald Youles will again be among the competitors, while this year’s line-up also includes fellow Australian champion Laurence O’Toole and world champion Brad De Losa.

Again there will be 12 competitors although Blackbutt’s Mitch Argent and Burpengary’s Jamie Head are unlikely to line up again, after Argent won first prize last year.

The competition format will be similar to last year’s, as this Saturday will feature a standing block two-man relay 400mm championship, underhand two-man relay 400mm championship, double saw 450mm championship, and 275mm two-man underhand and standing block combination championship.

A special hot saw appearance will also feature this time, and another additional feature will be live music in between the woodchopping events.

Following the completion of the woodchopping, live band Caravan will entertain the crowd from 8.30pm.
