Yowies ready to tackle Sharks
THE Kilcoy Yowies will trek to the Kandanga-based Jack Spicer Oval to contest the Caloundra Sharks in C grade action this Saturday, following last weekend’s bye in the Sunshine Coast Gympie Rugby League (SCGRL) competition.
With seven rounds remaining before the finals, the Yowies find themselves effectively one-and-a-half wins outside the top-four, as they sit in equal-fifth place out of eight teams while Caloundra is second.
Kilcoy drew the equal-fifth Beerwah 30-all in the most recent round while Caloundra defeated the fourth-placed Mary Valley 18-6.
The Sharks beat the Yowies 18-12 when the teams met at the Golden Beach-based Tinonee Oval back in round five on May 6, as Kilcoy was yet to win a game this year.
The Yowies have had three wins, two draws and one loss since then, while the Sharks have had five wins (including one on forfeit) and one loss in the same time-frame.
